syntax
Martin:
- Mediawiki where the editing is only on the text summary along with other changes
- Desktopwiki e.g Tiddlywiki, tomboy. These are personal wikis
- Wikipad is a personal wiki where content is created by the individual other than a group. The content can be on thoughts, contacts individual plans, to do lists and notes. It is a not taking application
- Peer to peer wikis which are server less systems that allows wiki sites to be shared between peers.

- WikiCalc is for creating and maintaining web pages that include data this is more than just unformatted prose, such as schedules, lists, and tables. It combines some of the ease of authoring and multi-person edit ability of a wiki with the familiar formatting and data organizing metaphor of a spreadsheet.
- Wikipedia is the free encyclopedia that anyone can edit.
- Wikisource is an online library of free content publications collected and maintained by the community
- Wikinews, is a free news source you can write
- WikiWikiWeb is a forum where people share ideas! It changes as people come and go. Much of the information here is subjective
