Funds have been provided by:
- Connectivity Africa (IDRC)
- Hivos
- ECA (in-kind)
Catered for:
- Set-up of the project
- Outreach materials
- Workshops (in Addis and Kampala)
- Support to Focus Network action plans developmet and implementation
- Research Component
- Small Grant Facility
In Phase II, we are looking at:
- continued support for Focus Networks
- Bringing onboard more Focus Networks
- SGF funding and second round of Small Grants
- Research and training related to out put and documentation
Challenge:
- only 30% (71,000USD is secured funding)
- meeting with Hivos next week
Ideas
- needs to showcase some of the work that has already been done
- what gaps that still need filling
- we need to continue finding ways to continue supporting Harambee otherwise we lose the progress that we have made so far; partial support is self-defeating
- we are working with networks trying to help them achieve their goals ie imporving lives, fighting poverty
- carry out a study of funding agency priorities ie. DFID is gettting much more into funding networks
- avoid making networks depend on Harmabee
- define well the L&E tool
- should be able to sell this to cross-regional funders
